They serve an array of Indian dishes varying from mild, to fiery and tantalizing recipes, sure to have you coming back for more. Tried and tested recipes focusing primarily on slow cooking, the traditional Indian way.
Classic Indian food served, served with a touch of nostalgia in downtown Toronto, reminding you of grandma’s touch with every bite. Serving a variety of dishes, ranging from vegetarian delicacies, chicken, lamb, and seafood prepared in a myriad of dishes. Beef is not on the menu, keeping in line with most traditional Indian dietary habits.
The prawn biriyani is a must-try along with their creamy butter chicken.
Benares’s Butter Chicken:
A rich creamy and mildly spiced gravy, made from ripe tomatoes and blended with a generous serving of cashew nut paste and dairy cream. This is a hearty dish best served with a green pea pulav or tandoori naan or even a mutton biriyani.

Utsav’s Butter Chicken:
A mild variant to the traditional dish, chicken tikka is cooked to perfection in a tandoor (Clay Oven) and then finished off with a generous serving of buttery creamy tomato curry, with hints of cardamom and fenugreek. The restaurant also offers off-site catering for parties and gatherings and is currently a range amongst the expat community. Some of their most famous dishes include their lamb biryani, collection of Bombay Chowpatty-styled chats, and delicacies from their Charcoal grill.
Leela’s Butter Chicken:
Unlike the other restaurants on our list, the butter chicken at Leelas is first cooked over a charcoal fire and then immersed in their in-house special butter chicken gravy made from a medley of nuts and melon seeds. The dish is presented with a tabletop charcoal smoker which further imbibes the dish with a smoky nostalgic aroma. Ready to greet your tastebuds to a world of bliss.

Pukka’s Butter Chicken:
A homestyle variant of the infamous butter chicken, a combination of almonds and cashews is used to create the creamy base for their curry which is topped with tender boneless chunks of chicken cooked in the tandoor and finished off with dollops of butter and fresh dairy cream.
Cost:
Priced at $23, it is one of the more expensive variants on our list, but the location, service, ambiance, presentation and overall experience dished out by this fine establishment make it a win-win in my books, and a sure shot amongst the best butter chicken in Toronto.
